Understanding social reality.
Interpreting its changes.

Social realities are complex and constantly changing. Understanding them requires observation, questions, research and cross-checking information from different perspectives.

My work focuses on analysing social phenomena, documentary research and studying the contexts, needs and dynamics that affect individuals, groups and organisations.

01 / ANALYSIS AND RESEARCH AREAS

Research to
understand.

Social analysis helps us approach the phenomena shaping our society, identify relationships, recognise needs and contribute to a fuller understanding of reality.

My activity is organised into four areas of work.

01

Analysis of social realities

Studying contexts, needs, groups and social dynamics, with attention to the factors influencing their development and organisations’ responses.

  • Analysis of social and territorial contexts.
  • Identification of needs and resources.
  • Study of groups and situations of vulnerability.
  • Analysis of social changes and trends.
02

Documentary research and open sources

Finding, selecting, cross-checking and analysing publicly available information to study social phenomena and answer research questions.

  • Searching and analysing documentary sources.
  • Open-source intelligence research (OSINT).
  • Cross-checking and verifying information.
  • Monitoring trends, discourse and public debates.
03

Social needs assessments and reports

Organising and interpreting information to produce documents that make a context or issue easier to understand.

  • Context reports.
  • Social needs assessments.
  • Stakeholder and resource maps.
  • Trend reports and documentary analysis.
04

Applied research and collaboration with organisations

Applying social analysis to specific questions and needs of organisations, associations and projects.

  • Defining problems and research questions.
  • Collecting and structuring information.
  • Supporting needs assessments and context studies.
  • Developing evidence-based conclusions and recommendations.

02 / RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

From questions
to evidence.

Every research project starts with a question. Useful analysis requires defining what we want to know, identifying suitable sources and clearly explaining how conclusions were reached.

Rigour · Critical thinking · Methodological transparency · Respect for people · Social value

01

Define the scope

Define the subject, context, research questions and scope of the work.

02

Search and cross-check

Identify relevant sources, collect information and assess its origin, quality, currency and limitations.

03

Analyse and interpret

Organise available data and information, identify relationships and patterns, and distinguish facts, interpretations and hypotheses.

04

Communicate findings

Present findings clearly, identifying the sources used, the limits of the analysis and the conclusions that can be drawn.

03 / RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS

A perspective on
social reality.

Analyses, research notes, report commentaries and evidence-based reflections on social issues of interest.

The aim is to contribute to understanding social phenomena by reviewing sources, interpreting information and communicating findings clearly.

04 / PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

Jesús Serrano

Social analyst and researcher

My professional background spans social integration, emergency medical services, employment and social guidance, and training.

These experiences have allowed me to engage with different social realities, understand how organisations and services work, and appreciate the importance of context in people’s needs and decisions.

Building on this foundation, I am focusing my professional development on social analysis and research, with a particular interest in social phenomena, documentary research, open sources and interpreting information.

My approach starts from one idea: understanding social reality requires contextual knowledge, critical thinking and a rigorous search for evidence.

I aim to develop and share analyses that help explain social changes and are useful to organisations, professionals and projects.

05 / TRAINING AND KNOWLEDGE SHARING

Sharing knowledge
is also part of the work.

My teaching experience is developed in collaboration with training centres and organisations, particularly in social care, health and social care, and employment guidance.

I am registered in the Community of Madrid’s Register of Trainers and take part in training activities tailored to partner organisations’ objectives and requirements.

Training can be delivered in person, online or in a blended format, depending on each project.

TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT APPLIED TO TRAINING

JS Proyectos · Social projects classroom

I develop my own digital tools to bring teaching experience into practical learning environments. JS Proyectos is my educational platform supporting learners, teachers and training centres in designing social projects step by step.

The classroom connects analysis of reality with intervention planning: needs assessment, objectives, indicators, timelines, budgets and evaluation. A resource for learning by doing, structuring ideas and turning them into well-founded projects.
